Chris, many thanks for digging in here. Much appreciated. I'll continue to plug along and let you know my results (if I get any further). Hoping that TAPG can help.

Well if people are saying its still not installing I guess I will completely revert the installer to the old way. It installs things fine for me so I don't know what I can do to test issues. DONE. Testing some installs will post the exe when done.

edit:
Attached is the exe only. 6.2.05. This has the reverted execution code and it worked fine.

Hi TAPG

Thanks for uploading that, I'm sure it will be helpful to many, for me though I'm gonna pass on ap5x. I'm keepin' my eye on 6x. For now I'll pull out my old PS guide and see if I recall any of the commands and create a simple install script - should be fun.

TAPG, thanks for posting the link to AP5. I too am focused on AP 6 and your last update (APv6.2.05) works ok here on Windows 7-64. Came up with Official status using Modules and seven_x64_SP1.rti from the last DL. AP6 still wouldn't install 9 updates but I found they are not applicable to my OS (downloaded them individually from MS and tried a manual install, none were needed). If AP could flag this outcome, it could eliminate future installation questions/uncertainty. Thanks again.

The updates that are not applicable to your system depends on the configuration of your system. Have 3 machines here, a desktop and 2 laptops, each displays a different number of updates that do not apply --- this ranges from 4 up to 14, not yet collated to see if there are common updates on all three. Will do this when time permits and report back.

A further note, each machine is running a different Edition of Windows Seven, one on Professional x64, another Home Premium x64 and lastly Starter x86. This also contributes to the required updates.

Is there any way AP can get the installation outcome of each patch (pass, fail, not needed), flag a fail and then if not needed, deselect the update?

@ TerryM -- firstly thanks for the listing, after checking the updates released that 3 were supposed to be deleted at an earlier stage. This was MY BAD !!

I concur that these updates DO NOT apply to Windows Seven x64, running Pro here also a Home Premium....

It would be nice to write to the log some basic info - update kbxyz does not apply to this system.

Also there was some progress with the blacklist IIRC, the ability to add updates to the list and hide em from AP's install pane, not sure where that feature is at this point. The list was only good for a single session, after a close and restart the list was useless.

Back in the day we used to have 1 man responsible for 1 maybe 2 scripts - and everyone helped the other release maintainers, unfortunately Wac seems to be doing it all so keep this in mind... but, AP via the apm has the ability of setting prerequisites. For example, 2619339 is a WMP dll update. The new encdec.dll is either (v6.6.7600.16899) or (v6.6.7601.17708) for GDR, and (v6.6.7600.21070) or (v6.6.7601.21840) for LDR. Using something like <=, >=, however it's used, if a file was already in place that qualified the update would be unchecked and IIRC blue. However, it takes lots of time scouring the bulletins and extracting out the contents of each update to create such a precision apm file, even then it may still fail on some systems but overall be reliable.
